The more there is AI propaganda about the lightning-fast pace of technology innovation, the more people are worried about being out of work. Well, the world is changing and so is the job market. This has always been the case. But high technology will not only lead to losses, but it will also bring new high-paying jobs. Monotonous, uninteresting jobs will disappear into thin air, while at the same time people will have more opportunities to be creative, to discover their talents, and to realize their potential. In the long term, companies will have to rethink their business processes and choose a new strategy for development and promotion.

Jack Ma, the founder of the global company Alibaba, agrees with this. In a recent interview, he said: “Don’t worry about the future and don’t be afraid of technology. The future will empower everyone, especially young people.”

We shouldn’t think that technology will take away our jobs and leave us without a livelihood. Technology will take over a lot of routines. When the first technological revolution took place and steam engines started to be used, many people were worried that they would now be out of work. It took 50 years and everyone realized that the steam engine was going to create a lot of new jobs. When electricity was invented, so many companies were worried that jobs would disappear. But electricity led to the creation of new ones.

The most important thing is not to stop evolving, to be flexible, and to be able to adapt to circumstances. The future lies in a proactive approach to one’s learning, lifelong learning.

Earlier it was enough to get one higher education before the age of 25 and it was considered a traditional one-peak educational trajectory, but now we should think about a three-peak model because there is a second (30–55 years old) and third (55+) working age. Today, a person changes, on average, seven occupations in a lifetime — not positions, but activities. And you have to be prepared to move from one industry to another, you have to be prepared to learn throughout your life.
