AI in cybersecurity

Organizations are betting on artificial intelligence to help identify threats. According to a 2019 Capgemini report, about 69% of organizations believe that the adoption of AI will become a ubiquitous means of responding to cyberattacks and threats.

Technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning have become critical tools for companies to address unwanted system vulnerabilities. With the imminent threats posed by cybercriminals, organizations must be vigilant.

As threats continue to overwhelm companies, the list below demonstrates how companies have started using AI:
— Threat hunting: AI easily improves threat hunting by applying behavioral analysis. For example, profiles of every existing application can be developed by analyzing the organization’s data from endpoints.
— Vulnerability Management: AI techniques simplify the ability to manage the vulnerabilities that organizations face daily. Moreover, other tools, such as AI-powered event and user behavior analytics, help organizations detect anomalies on servers or even analyze user behavior before an attack can occur.
— Network security: When building network security, organizations need to focus on two areas: Understanding how the network environment works — organizations need to start getting naming conventions for workloads and applications. This is one of the main reasons why most organizations end up wasting unnecessary time choosing which set of workloads belongs to which application.

Creating security policies — A security policy helps determine whether a connection is legitimate or malicious.

AI enhances network security by scrutinizing the structure of network traffic. Google, IBM / Watson, Juniper Networks, and Balbix are the companies that have implemented AI best practices in cybersecurity.
