AI and transportation engineering

Artificial intelligence has long changed our world, but it hasn’t stopped and continues to do so continuously. Technologies based on AI capabilities are beginning to act similarly to humans, automating everyday tasks. This gives humans more free time for creative exploration and innovative ideas. Artificial intelligence offers many initiatives to effectively support vehicle design.

Already, various AI techniques are being used in the creation of vehicle designs as well as in their practical development. Such technologies bring many benefits, including the ability to:
еvaluate a significant number of alternatives in a minimal amount of time;
reduce the time for data processing;
automatically select information according to certain criteria/parameters, etc.

Undoubtedly, at the moment, an important driving element for the active research of AI in transport engineering remains the need for the most advanced robotic driver assistance systems and the development of unmanned vehicles. Indeed, drone vehicles cannot be imagined without AI systems. Gartner predicts that the number of new cars equipped with autonomous technology will quadruple in the coming years. But this is only the beginning of AI opportunities in transportation.

AI-based solutions and advanced machine learning algorithms help significantly accelerate design workflows. And collaborative robots, designed to take on tedious or monotonous tasks, are already being actively used in manufacturing. AI is much better at inspecting manufactured parts than humans, as it pays attention to even microscopic irregularities.

AI is capable of detecting a variety of technical violations in record time. Based on the data collected by special sensors, the system can inform the developer or the user about system malfunctions or the need to replace specific parts. And this information comes even before possible defects appear or before incorrectly manufactured parts are installed.
